Kali Linux Tutorial Hack Your Own Network and Beef Up Its Security

Kali Linux Tutorial Hack Your Own Network and Beef Up Its Security

Hack Your Own Network - Beef Up Its Security- picateshackz.com

Kali Linux is packed with a ton of software for testing security holes in your network. There are far too many to list here, but were so enamored with it that we decided to pick a few of our favorite tools and show how they work: Aircrack, Airbase, and ARPspoof. Well show you how to crack a Wi-Fi password with brute force techniques, create a fake router to trick machines into logging into it, and perform a man in the middle attack to eavesdrop on network communications. Remember: use these powers for good, not for evil. Knowing how to do these things can get you out of a jam or help you learn to secure your own network, but doing them to someone else is not something we recommend.
Read my previous article to know more about Kali Linux: An Introduction To Hacker’s OS: Kali Linux And Setup Tutorial.

Crack a WPA Wi-Fi Password with Aircrack

Kali Linux comes with a whole suite of apps for cracking Wi-Fi networks, including Aircrack and Reaver—both of which weve mentioned before for cracking WEP and WPA passwords, respectively.

Recommend to read: How To Hack Wi-Fi WPA/WPA2 With Kali Linux

However, WEP passwords arent that popular anymore (because theyre so easy to crack), and Reaver only works if a network has WPS enabled. So today, were going take another look at Aircrack and use it to to brute force our way into a WPA network (with the help of a password list).

Step One: Configure Your Wireless Card

First things first: disconnect from all wireless networks. Then open up terminal. In order to use Aircrack, youll need a wireless card that supports injections. Type this into the Terminal to make sure your card supports it:
airmon-ng
This lists all the wireless cards that support this crack. If you card doesnt support injections, it wont show up here. Yours is likely listed under interface as wlan0, but it may depend on your machine.
Next, type in:
airmon-ng start wlan0
Replace wlan0 with your cards interface address. You should get a message back saying that monitor mode was enabled.

Step Two: Monitor Your Network

Next, youre going to get a list of all the networks in your area and monitor yours.
Type in:
airodump-ng mon0
Youll see all the networks in your area. Locate your network from the list, and copy the BSSID, while making a note of the channel its on. Tap Ctrl+C to stop the process.
Next, type this in, replacing the information in parentheses with the information you gathered above:
airodump-ng -c (channel) --bssid (bssid) -w /root/Desktop/ (monitor interface)
It should read something like this:
airodump-ng -c 6 --bssid 04:1E:64:98:96:AB -w /root/Desktop/ mon0
Now, youll be monitoring your network. You should see four files pop up on the desktop. Dont worry about those now; youll need one of them later. The next step is a bit of a waiting game, as youll be sitting around waiting for a device to connect to a network. In this case, just open up a device you own and connect to your Wi-Fi. You should see it pop up as a new station. Make a note of the station number, because youll need that in the next step.

Step Three: Capture a Handshake

Now, youre going to force a reconnect so you can capture the handshake between the computer and the router. Leave Airodump running and open up a new tab in Terminal. Then type in:
aireplay-ng -0 2 -a (router bssid) -c (client station number) mon0
It should look something like:
aireplay-ng -0 2 -a 04:1E:64:98:96:AB -c 54:4E:85:46:78:EA mon0
Youll now see Aireplay send packets to your computer to force a reconnect. Hop back over to the Airodump tab and youll see a new number listed after WPA Handshake. If thats there, youve successfully grabbed the handshake and you can start cracking the password.

Step Four: Crack the Password

You now have the routers password in encrypted form, but you still need to actually figure out what it is. To do this, youll use a password list to try and brute force your way into the network. You can find these lists online, but Kali Linux includes a few small lists to get you started in the /usr/share/wordlists directory, so well just use one of those. To start cracking the password type this in:
aircrack-ng -a2 -b (router bssid) -w (path to wordlist) /Root/Desktop/*.cap
So, continuing with our above example and using one of the built-in wordlists, it should read something like:
aircrack-ng -a2 -b 04:1E:64:98:96:AB -w /usr/share/wordlists/fern-wifi/common.txt /Root/Desktop/*.cap
Now, Aircrack will try all of those passwords to see if one fits. If it does, youll get a message saying the key was found with the password. If not, give another one of the password lists a try until you find one that works. The bigger the password list, the longer this process will take, but the greater chance you have of succeeding.

How to Use This Information to Stay Safe

So, you just brute forced your way into your own network. Depending on how good your password is, it either took you five minutes or five hours. If your password is something simple, like "password123", then chances are one of the smaller wordlists was able to crack it pretty quickly. If it was more complicated, it probably took a long time or never surfaced the password at all (if so: good for you!).
The best protection here is a good, strong password on your router. The longer, weirder, and more complex it is, the better. Likewise, make sure youre using the WPA2 security protocol and you dont have WPS enabled.

Create a Fake Network with Airbase

Next up, lets take a look at how you can spoof a network address to trick people into signing into the wrong network so you can watch what theyre doing. Hackers might do this so you sign into the fake network thinking its your real one, then performing a man in the middle attack (more on that in the next section) to gather information about you from your traffic. This is amazingly easy to do with a tool in Kali Linux called Airbase.
Essentially, youll turn your Wi-Fi adapter on Kali Linux into an access point with the same name as another network. In order to do this, youll follow the same line of research as you did above, but the endings a bit different.

Step One: Configure Your Wireless Card

Just like last time, you need to set up your wireless card to monitor traffic. Open up Terminal and type:
airmon-ng
This lists all the wireless cards that support this crack. Yours is likely listed under interface as wlan0.
Next, type in:
airmon-ng start wlan0
Now youre in monitor mode. Its time to find the network you want to spoof.

Step Two: Find a Wi-Fi Network to Spoof

In order to spoof a router, youll need some information about it. So, type in:
airodump-ng mon0

Know Your Worth

Know Your Worth

A good quality that I have is... I think. I study. I am open-minded. I am inquisitive. A bad quality I have is... I over think a lot. I believe what I over think most about is human behavior. This prompted me to major in Forensic Psychology in college because I am utterly fascinated by why people believe what they do, and why they do what they do. The media is probably what intrigues me most, namely social media.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, etc. enable news and opinions to reach large audiences in an expeditious amount of time. This is helpful and convenient, but it is also disheartening. Everyone voices their opinion on articles, pictures, statuses-- and anyone can say whatever they want. They can also do this anonymously or behind a fake avatar.

The older I get, the more I pay attention to the worlds [media] opinion on women. I see a plethora of comments degrading women as they grow older and/or after having children. The stigmas are endless: women are only beautiful and desirable in their youth, women are only taken seriously if they look and dress a certain way, women need to ensure they engage in this and this to please a man or else he will leave or cheat. My list could go on (to no ones surprise). Being young and blissful enabled me to never give a prolonged thought about these opinions, but now that I am getting older, I find myself disgusted at times by things I read.

Below are just a few statements I have heard or read on media outlets, social media, and/or have been said about me personally:

I read and see things written like this everyday. The media and the world is hard on everyone: men, women, black, white, young, and old. Everyone has issues they encounter on a daily basis-- no race or gender is exempt. Comments and posts about women just hit me specifically because, well I am one. Due to todays prodigious amounts of news outlets, magazines, television and reality shows, social media platforms, and so on, it is more imperative to know your worth and define yourself and value by your own standards.

Part of the reason why I am so adamant about finding happiness within yourself and firmly believe happiness is a choice, is because of how these degrading and disheartening opinions are voiced. Maybe the world has always been this way, but due the readily accessible information and opinions about everything, it is easier to see it.

This has made me come to the realization that I need to be strong.

How profound that must sound, right?

I realize I need to be stronger than I initially thought. I truly need to realize and know my worth. This is me "practicing what I preach write". If I feel like others need to know their worth, I first have to know my own.

Here are thoughts I have on issues that I feel hit me directly:

Men are so much sexier with age; yet women just become ugly, crazy, and undesirable. This scares me. I am 25 years old and I want to find my life partner just as much as anyone else. However, I do not know when that will happen nor do I feel as if this is something I would ever want to rush or settle for. Nor is it something I feel like my life needs to revolve around. Due to the fact that I am growing older, will that make me become less desirable? Do I need to rush out and find someone now so I do not die alone?

I know my worth: I am more than a body. I am more than skin. Just because I have not settled down does not mean I am undesirable and/or crazy; it just means I have not found the right person yet. It means that I take relationships and marriage seriously, and I would rather be alone that settle for anything less that what feels meant for me. It shows that I can be alone and be OK until the time is right.

I hope that one day those qualities will be able to triumph the wrinkles I may have on my face.

Because I enjoy wearing makeup, I look like a "hooker" and will never be taken seriously. Why does makeup appear to so easily define a persons morals or values? If one wears makeup they must be covering insecurities or trying to hide themselves. If one wears too much makeup, they have to be sleazy, easy, and stupid.

Sexy is subjective; that is the best thing about it. Sexy does not have to mean nudity or sex. Sexy also means appealing and/or exciting. I find makeup sexy, and it it something I enjoy. I know I look fine without it. I look younger without it, and I do not always wear it. I consider makeup an art and my face a canvas. Makeup is how I express myself. This stigma that comes with wearing makeup, tattoos, piercings, and/or colorful hair (for example when I had red streaks) is frustrating. Just because a woman enjoys feeling sexy and/or wearing makeup does not mean she lacks morals, values, and a brain. This may sound absolutely unheard of, but it is entirely possible to have all of those qualities.

This when I have to know my worth. I know that I am more than the makeup on my face-- and sure, I could change it... but then I would be changing something that I love to do, and express myself with, so the world will look at me differently. I refuse to do that, so I have to be strong, understand the judgement and stereotype that comes along with it, and know my worth. I can only hope that maybe by reading my words, someone out there will judge someone less critically because they have a different physical appearance.

Cheating is the norm these days. It just happens -- we see it so often that it is not a big deal anymore. Because of social media, lines are so easily crossed with inappropriate picture comments, posted pictures, and private messages. For anyone married, in a relationship, or battling this: know you worth. If there is ever something that that can make you feel so worthless, its being cheated on. Am I not beautiful enough? Am I not desirable? Do I not do enough? Why did I cause someone to engage in this behavior? Its not you, its them. Men and women who are labeled as the most beautiful on earth have been cheated on. Sometimes people are selfish. Sometimes people make compulsive decisions without thinking of the consequences. That is not your problem; its theirs. That is when you have to remember to know your worth.

To be frank, relationships in the day and age really do scare me. So often people never seemed satisfied. So often people to seem to only care about sex -- the quantity of partners seem to matter; not the quality, chemistry, and connection someone has with one person. We can easily keep in touch with ex-partners, share racy photos of ourselves to strangers, secretly text on applications that hide phone numbers... it is so easy in this world to not be in love or take relationships and vows seriously. If you put your heart and soul into someone, and it is not reciprocated, you deserve better because you obviously value the relationship your in. Value is worth, and your worth is more than that.

Those are just a few of the issues I am touching on, because the stigmas people attach to issues similar to those above are endless. This blog post could go on for days. This is just the beginning of my understanding of growing older.

It is hard to change the way that people think. Often times voicing your opinion on matters is similar to speaking to a brick wall. Though we can not always change the way that someone thinks, acts, and/or feels about us, we can always know our own worth. That is what has helped and is still helping me overcome  unrealistic expectations, judgement, and stereotypes that I have personally encountered throughout my life.

If you are going through a hard time, if someone is making you feel less than you are, or if you read something is immensely discouraging; remember your worth. Before you consider media standards and others opinions... know who you are, what you stand for, and what you work hard for in life - that is your worth.

PS: About 5 minutes after I published this post, I saw this headline. This is one of the things I am talking about:

... funny that we have to prove that as women get older theyre not "invisible".

Know The Power of Your Mind!

Know The Power of Your Mind!

Problems are the innate part of life! In this blog topic CRB Tech Reviews will discuss the potential of mind to do away with the problems and for that you need to know how to get out of negative feelings.

mind-power

Problems vary person to person and the cause are also different. Let’s say my problem is my mood. I might want to be happy yet some negative feelings get way into.

Now it is to wonder what is the cause of the problems or the negative feelings. It could be lack of sleep. Too much bad junkies. Time of the monthly cycle. Too much sodas or caffeine. Those words of my spouse, co-worker,friend, many to mention. Nope!that’s not the reason. They are mere triggers, and we in in this hotchpotch.

So what could be the reason? Well that’s the habits of mind. You might have the good intentions and desires to change your mind state, but until your habit of mind changes, you can’t get away with your problems.

Truth about Reality

Now what is Reality?

To explain that let me paraphrase the teachings of E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality Paperback authored by Pam Grout:

E=MC^2 that says energy=matter and matter=energy.

Matter is mere potential energy.

All energy, which includes self, are connected to the field of potentiality, which says if you want something, the power for that exists.

Thoughts are energy. And wherever you focus your thoughts or energy your reality gets created.Thoughts are rather directional.

Next question is how to use the focus of your mind. CRB Tech Reviews write about that HOW! Keep moving through the lines to know.

Patterns of Your Mind

The fact is that mind is a creature of habit. And the good news is that you can change your habit. But How?

I would like to keep things simple and short. To mention our mind establishes some very strong patterns over the lifetime. We spend the lifetime spending thinking the way we can.So what to practice is to change the current negative limiting thought patterns each time they appear along with the thoughts that has the potential to bring good stuff into our life.

How Can Your Mind Manifest Your Need?

The simple fact is that what we want we go for....So what we keep bringing to our mind over and over will happen to us. You should realise the power of your belief and intentions. What you have to do is you keep focusing on what you want and consistently bring the mind back to that again ad again.

Steps:

1. You choose an intention. “I want ____________.”

E.g. I want a new red car. Thoughts will line up like this: I deserve it. I will care for it. I will enjoy it everyday. I can feel it.

2. After making choice of that intention, you focus on that the whole day.

3. Converge all your senses to visualise: how will you feel? what will it look, smell, feel and taste like? what emotions and thought and experiences will you be having? The more you focus the more power it will have.

4. Again and again bring your mind back to your intention all day.

Very sooner this will become your new habit of thoughts. No sooner you will see the fruits of your thoughts.

Common Problems and Solutions

Fixative attitude towards Past or Present Situations. And to do away with it you need to change your thought pattern and habit. You need to move on! You need to question your goal.
The best help would come as meditation for 5 to 20 minutes a few times everyday.

Sharpen your thought process and take care of sleeping habits and food habits too. Keep faith on your positive vibes and energy and everything will seem rewarding for you. Good thoughts will make you know how important you are and the importance of your emotions, ideas and success

We conclude here.

L I F E To Put On Your Book Wishlist

L I F E To Put On Your Book Wishlist

Meet photographer Nicholas Alan Copes unique vision of Los Angeles. (What? no palm trees, malls, z boys, Hollywood sign? Sorry for thinking in clichés guys, only know LA from movies)
"Searching for the sublime core of the citys true nature, Cope strips away the extraneous, and focuses on the sheer beauty and simplicity of the cityscape.
To an outsider, the profound cultural, historical, and architectural imprint of the City of Angels can be lost amongst the unsightly sprawl of stucco, strip malls, and irrelevant adornment.
While the sunlight can be unforgiving and harsh, bleaching the landscape into a pale hue, the allure, for Cope, lies in the consistency and ubiquity of the buildings combined with
the severity of the light accentuating the dramatic elegance of the architecture. Whitewash utilizes the whitest whites, the blackest blacks, and the modern and stark architecture
of an idealized future that never arrived to tell the visual story of LAs uniquely conflicted soul." - from the press release

I am in urgent need of this book.

Whitewash by Nicholas Alan Cope, with a foreword by Rick Owens
Out on April 16.
